About Sarah Spiece
Sarah completed her coursework in music therapy at Queens University of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009. In the winter of 2010 Sarah completed her degree with a six-month internship at the Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Shortly after her internship, she started working in the activities department at a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). While working there, she passed her board exam and became a board certified music therapist.
During her four and a half years at this facility, Sarah grew to love the older adult population, especially those with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Music holds a special place in the lives of these residents, and Sarah finds pleasure in being able to bring that to them.
Sarah has received a certificate in gerontology from Anne Arundel Community College, and completed her Master's degree in music therapy at Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Sarah has continued her music therapy journey in Northern Colorado, contracting at long term care facilities, Pathways of Northern Colorado (hospice and palliative care), leading a SPARK! music therapy program with the Alzheimer's association of Boulder, and collaborating with Peak Pathways Music Therapy, LLC.
Why start SSMTS?
I felt it was the perfect time to expand my love of music therapy to other facilities that do not have this service. I am passionate about helping residents improve their quality of life through music.
